Foods That Cause Hair Loss

In an earlier psot, I introduced you to some foods that can stop hair loss and promote hair growth. You should also know that there are foods that can CAUSE HAIR LOSS. These foods are best avoided. Foods that cause hair loss are:

  • high-sugar
  • high-fat
  • high-salt
  • alcohol
  • caffeine
High sugar foods fuel the ageing process and can induce hair loss. Consumption of excess fat can replace essential proteins that are essential for healthy hair.

Foods high in salt increase hypertension and reduce blood flow to the scalp in turn causing hair loss.Excess alcohol consumption can reduce the zinc content in our body causing hair loss. Zinc is essential to the growth of healthy hair.

Too much caffeine can induce stress. It has been found that people who are stressed out experience more hair loss than those who don't.

Dandruff Treatment At Home Using Boric Powder

Dandruff is a major cause of male hair loss. Most men can prevent baldness and reverse hair loss if only they make sure they have no dandruff. The habit of good hair care is rare amopng men. Most dandruff can be cured by regularly using an anti-dandruff shampoo. Mild dandruff will disappear in less than a week's time if used regularly.

Herbal shampoos are best. What you should keep in mind while using a shampoo are two things:

1. Don't leave shampoo on your scalp for too long. Apply shampoo on wet hair, massage for 3-4 minutes and wash away with clean water.

2. Wash thoroughly and make sure that no traces of shampoo is left in your hair.

How to cure extreme dandruff

If you are suffering from extreme dandruff i.e. you wash your hair using shampoo regularly, but the dandruff shows no signs of disappearing, here is a simple solution. Buy some boric powder. Take a pinch of boric powder and mix it with your shampoo. Ideally, a pinch of boric powder in 100 ml of shampoo. use this shampoo and wash your hair.

You will see the dandruff disappearing in about 4-5 days. use it for a week and then continue using shampoo without mixing boric powder. To stop hair loss and start the growth of new hair, you should first stop dandruff. Excess dandruff can even lead to acne and pimples on your face, neck and chest.

How Often To Shampoo Hair?

One question most men ask is how often should I shampoo my hair? Would shampooing cause hair growth or hair loss? Firstly, you should understand the problem that you are facing with respect to your hair. If you are facing hair loss due to dandruff, you better shampoo!

Regular use of shampoo can help prevent dandruff. If your hair loss is due to dandruff, the hair loss will end with the use of a shampoo. If your hair loss is due to other reasons, I'd not recommend using shampoo very often. Shampoo is good for dandruff because it acts as a disinfectant. And, use of chemicals too often on your scalp is not good for hair growth.

What shampoo to use and how

If you are hell bent on using a shampoo, I'd recommend using a mild, herbal shampoo. Some people have the habit of leaving the shampoo on their scalp for a long time. This habit is best avoided. Apply shampoo on wet hair, massage on scalp gently and rinse thoroughly. This is how you should use a shampoo. Using shampoo too often and leaving them on your scalp for too long can weaken your hair roots.

Instead of shampoos, you can use home-made preparations like green gram powder, groundnut powder, or thaali. Thaali is available in most Indian shops. If the hair oil you use is good enough, you won't even need a shampoo. I'll write another post soon telling you how to prepare the best hair oil at home. These herbal preparations clean your scalp, nourish your hair without causing any damage.
